Now that the redesigned site is live and in beta at ttrh.org, I have moved on to working on the logo redesign.
Twitch is very attached to the old logo, but recognizes its limitations and weaknesses. With his input, I have devised an improved logo based on the original’s layout and visual elements. The sun, a hand-shake, and homes are the motifs I will be recreating in this logo, with the text integrated as both information and framing to the visual elements.
The colors used in this logo are directly based off those used in the website. An update to the orange color has been made, as the original selection was tested and found to be too dark and mistaken for red.
This design is being created in Adobe Illustrator CS5. I’ve never actually worked with gradients in this program before! I’m pretty pleased with what I’ve accomplished in that regard. The benefits of having a vector-based logo design are phenomenal – and that’s what Illustrator does! Vector images use mathematically calculated images rather than pixel-by-pixel images. This allows them to be re-sized for virtually any use. It is possible to shrink down to fit on buttons and pins, and blow up for banner and promotional printing! Those last two features, especially, are what sells me on working with vectors to create logos.
Keep on keepin’ on, and let me know how I’m doing!
